I am giving the tabletop 3rd Ed. LOS Skirmish rules a go. Scenario is the machines are attacking a UNE refuling stop. The machines have an External Security Horde along with a Infiltration Horde and one G1C Nightmare. The UNE has a Commando Section with a Recon squad (Sgt commanding) and a Heavy Behemoth Platform defending. Both sides enter from their long board edge. The Rock formations on the board are rough terrain (1/2 movement allowance to move through and provides a +2 to hit modifier). There are the rock hills on the right side of the picture that is level 3 high. The hedgerows are level 1 line of sight obstacles. Level 1 is the height of a UNE commando/ G1 Nightmare. The posted pic is of the end of turn 1 (forces entered the board).

Finished the scenario. The UNE won on turn 4 after eliminating almost all of the machine's forces. The machines took out the Behemoth, Commando corporal, 2 x Commando troopers, and one Recce trooper. An X1 runaway jacked one recce trooper and marched it off into captivity. The UNE plasma troopers were the major machine killers taking out around 70% of the machine's forces. Enjoyed playing this scenario and the new 3rd Ed. rules worked just fine.
